Building Nashville is an effort by the Southeast Laborers' District Council and Laborers' Local 386, along with a variety of community partners, to connect local workers in Davidson County, Tennessee, with good jobs building the infrastructure and great public projects of the Athens of the South.
As the local economy recovers and the city continues to rebuild following the historic flooding of 2010, billions of dollars will be spent on everything from new public entertainment facilities and corporate offices to school buildings and sewer systems. These projects are being funded and subsidized by taxpayers' dollars, and Building Nashville believes that those dollars can be returned to the pockets of those same taxpayers in the form of good-paying careers in construction.
By offering training and union membership to individuals in historically underserved communities, Building Nashville and the Southeast Laborers' District Council are committed to raising standards for the working people of Davidson County.
